Hello people!
This vacation is kind of different to me because I scourged myself with tasks I don't usually do like cooking , cleaning , reading novels etc ...
So on one such blue moon day I happened to read the book on Alexander the great by Jacob Abott . Before I comment over Alexander's character , I 'd like to say something about the writer himself... Well this is also a side of the coin and MY opinion which hardly matters :P As a kid I was amazed to see his conquests over a map in my history book . He was my ultimate hero and the conquest he made in such a brief time was remarkable for a twenty odd personality...
The writer I felt was partial , in spite of his efforts to stay neutral he stumbled at every nook and corner and portrayed Alexander as a grey character of the novel. But at the conclusive part I felt he was just.
As it was a barbarian age , or the age of conquerors where the conquest was made only by the man power rather than mind power. I found him reasonable and just in matters of violence .Being a teenager he had the ambition of ruling or I'd say conquering the world which every other prince has .But his father's death and the circumstances then made him the king of macedonia and his dashing , impetuous yet cool behavior made him swipe the asia minor and persia.
The thing I observed was that the conquest was rapid only under the guardianship of Parmenio ,his military official and until the ruler was not an alcoholic.Soon after which he turned haughty , boisterous and died after few years. His death came as a joy to some and fury to the others .
All things apart he was an ambitious teenager who changed the history with his indomitable courage , impetuous scorn .
Enjoy and let enjoy!

Tigers do not spring upon their prey with greater ferocity than man springs, under such circumstances, to the perpetration of every possible cruelty upon his fellow man.

Guilt makes men afraid. It not only increases the power of real dangers, but predisposes the mind to all sorts of imaginary fears...-Jacob Abott , writer on pretext : Some astrologers predicted that he would die in Babylon and asked him to avoid the place. He didin't and died in less than one year.
